In February 19 this year, over 100 school girls was abducted by the Boko Haram terrorist in villiage called Dapchi in the northern area of Nigeria.
After four weeks, most of the school girls were released except for Leah Sharibu who refuses to denounce her Christian faith.
On Monday the insurgent sent an unverified audio of the girl to local media where she said in her Hausa local dialect that “I am Leah Sharibu, the girl that was abducted from Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi. I am calling on government and people of goodwill to get me out of this problem”
She Furthered, “I am Leah Sharibu, the girl that was abducted from Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi. I am calling on government and people of goodwill to get me out of this problem.”
Meanwhile, the President spokesma, Garba Shehu noted on his Twitter page on the confirmation of the authenticity of the audio file.
He said, “The secret service is analyzing the voice. Our reaction will follow the outcome of the investigation.”
He however assured that the President is working on bringing the girl home, “For President Buhari, nothing will be spared in bringing all our girls home. He will not rest until all of them are freed.”
The Father of the abducted girl, Sharibu Nathan in a conversation with CNN confirmed that it was her daughter speaking in the audio.
“I thought she might have been killed since we were told by those released that Boko Haram kept her because she is a Christian. I can only imagine the way they would have treated her,” Nathan said. “I have been calling the government to save my daughter. It has been seven months since she was taken; I believe they can get her from Boko Haram if they want to help us.”
In 2014 the Boko Haram insurgent kidnapped over 100 students and to date 93 were released, while others are still missing. UNICEF recorded that over 1,000 children as been kidnapped by the terrorist since 2013 in Nigeria.
