Jefferson Bethke is an evangelist, bestselling author, and spoken word artist whose YouTube video, “Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus,” has received over 33 million views since it was published in 2012. His books include It’s Not What You Think and Jesus > Religion. Jefferson and his wife Alyssa minister on marriage and relationships. Their book, Love That Lasts, was released in October 2017.

Talking about the day his life was transform he said: The day my life changed was when I realized that He saw all my filth, all my sin, all my shortcomings, and all my insecurities yet still looked me right in the eye and said, “I love you and I’m not going anywhere.”

The best part about being a Christian is that I don’t have to have it all together because I’m loved and pursued by a God who does. I never went searching for Him, but He went searching for me. That’s quite an awesome truth!

Jefferson Bethke rose to fame in 2012, after his spoken word poem “Why I Hate Religion But Love Jesus” went viral on YouTube and social media. Since then, Bethke’s online presence has grown, and his YouTube channel, which features poetry and Q&A-style conversation about the gospel, has received nearly 60 million views. Bethke is also the author of the bestselling book “Jesus > Religion.”
