When God gives you a word, He takes responsibility for it.
You can’t PERFORM the prophetic word of God to you; you can only BELIEVE while it is God’s responsibility to PERFORM – Jer.1:12.
You see, God holds you accountable on “THE MEASURE OF LIGHT” that is made available to you – Rm.2:12, Rm.1:20.
The miracles of yesterday must form a STRONG CONVICTION in your heart that God cannot fail you today or tomorrow.
It is really a grave offence in the sight of God to doubt God’s word when He expects you to BELIEVE by reason of your depth of walk with Him.
I like to illustrate this point with the story of Zecharias, the father of John the Baptist and Mary, the mother of Jesus.
The same angel appeared to them – angel Gabriel, and their responses were SIMILAR but God viewed them DIFFERENTLY.
When angel Gabriel told Mary that she would give birth to the Savior as a virgin, her question was, “How shall this be…?” and the angel answered, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee…” – Lk.1:34-35.
But when angel Gabriel told Zecharias that his wife Elisabeth shall give birth to a son, he also asked, “Whereby shall I know this?” – Lk.1:18 but to God, Zecharias just made a gaffe.
The angel told him that he shall be dumb until everything is fulfilled because HE BELIEVED NOT – Lk.1:20.
Now, think about that friend – similar response but different “strokes”.
Mary asked, “How shall this be?”, Gabriel answered, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee..”.
Zecharias asked, “Whereby shall I know this?”, same Gabriel said, “Thou shalt be dumb…”.
What’s the difference here? Mary was a young virgin lady (not a minister) and she hadn’t seen that happen since the creation of the world – it’s not recorded anywhere that a virgin ever gave birth in human history, so her question was pardonable.
Whereas, Zecharias was a “priest”, or you can say a “pastor” as many can relate to that, and he had been ministering to the people of God and pronouncing the blessing on them.
He could even have prayed for barren women to concieve, so God expected that he would know better, hence that question was unnecessary to God, and it was a form of UNBELIEF.
The consequence? HE BECAME DUMB! God had to shut his mouth supernaturally as a lesson, to know that HIS JUDGEMENT IS ACCORDING TO LIGHT – the measure of light available to a generation – Rm.2:12, Rm.1:20.
If God kept you from a plane crash, it would be an insult to God to think that He can’t keep you from an autocrash.
If God miraculously met a need of 1million naria for you in the past, it is an affront on His integrity to think that He can’t meet a need of 500 thousand naira now.
If God gave you a miracle of conception when there seemed to be no more hope, it is an indictment on His faithfulness and loving kindness to doubt His miracle of delivery.
Like David, you must be able to say that the Lord Who delivered you from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver you out of the hand of this Goliath – 1Sam. 17:37 – that’s JUDGING GOD FAITHFUL!
Dear friend, it is a GRAVE THING to doubt God’s Word, moreso after you have seen His hand in your life in the past.
Remember, God will hold you accountable on the amount of light that is available to you.
Simple reason Jesus set forth THAT PRINCIPLE when He reprimanded the cities that experienced HIS GREATEST MIRACLES.
MATTHEW 11:20-24
20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
Unbelief is grave!
Faith is great!!
Choose to believe!!
The Lord will hasten His word to perform in your life!!!
