” SERVING AND FOLLOWING HIM CORRECTLY”

Evang. Mike Bamiloye

Joshua 22:5 NKJV

But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Deuteronomy 11:13-15 NKJV

‘[13] And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul,
[14] then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.
[15] And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.’

It baffles me that one can serve the Lord without Being blessed at all. It amazes me that one can sweat in His Vineyard and still remain unblessed and unfulfilled. It wonders me that one can serve the Lord and still be condemned into nothingness.

It is eye opening to know that when the Bible asks you to “walk in the Ways of the Lord” it emphasizes that you WALK IN ALL HIS WAYS. And when you are enjoined to “serve the Lord”, you are advised by the Word of the Lord TO SERVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND ALL YOUR SOUL. When Jesus was telling one of the Pharisees about the greatest and the first of all Commandment, the Bible says:

Matthew 22:37-38 NKJV
[37] Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
[38] This is the first and great commandment.

And the reason why Caleb eventualy possed his possessions, despite the wandering about in the wilderness of the house of Israel and the destructions that followed them all for their disobedience, was because he wholly followed the Lord His God WITH ALL HIS HEART.

Joshua 14:8-9 NKJV
[8] Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
[9] So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’

Therefore, as the Lord promised the whole house of Israel to bring them to the Promised Land and still wasted that generation in the wilderness Himself, so also it is possible for God to make a promise to any of His children and still supervise His wandering about till that particular child of God is wasted away following Him.
SO ONE CAN FOLLOW THE LORD AND STILL WANDER ABOUT IN THE WILDERNESS OF LIFE AND NOT FIND A DIRECTION TO DESTINATION TILL HE DIES AWAY.
ONE CAN SERVE THE LORD AND STILL WASTE AWAY IF HE DOES NOT FOLLOW THE LORD WITH ALL HIS HEART AND MIGHT.

Do you realise that all Israelites in the wilderness were following the Cloud in the day and the Pillar of Fire by night, and that generation still never got to their destination?

Can you imagine that the Pillar of Cloud and the Pillar of Fire was the One that was leading the whole pack of Israel in the wrong direction in the wilderness? When the spies went out to spy the land, it took them forty days to and fro, but when they set out from that same spot, after they had doubted the wisdom of God, the Lord equated each day for a year and the Cloud and the Fire led them along a very long journey for forty years till they were all wasted away, leaving their children behind. SO, GOD CAN WASTE A PERSON’S TIME AND LIFE.

Numbers 32:13 KJV
And the Lord’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the Lord , was consumed.

But why? ONLY ONE VIRTUE WAS MISSING.
REMOVE THAT THING FROM THE PICTURE, AND A CHILD OF GOD CAN FOLLOW GOD AND STILL WASTE AWAY.
TAKE AWAY THAT VIRTUE FROM THE LIFE OF A CHILD OF GOD, AND HE COULD SERVE THE LORD AND FOLLOW HIM AND STILL BE USELESS FOR LIFE.

Deuteronomy 10:12 NKJV
“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

IF YOU ARE GOING TO SERVE HIM, SERVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO FOLLOW HIM, FOLLOW HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO SEEK HIM, SEEK HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND SOUL.

A lot of us follow the Lord, but not with all our heart. We serve Him, but not with all our might. We seek Him half-heartedly, so we do not find Him.

In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus demanded that we love the love the Lord God with all our Heart, with all our Soul and with all our Might, He said, this is the Great and First Commandment of God.

So, some people are in ministry today, because they had no other choice, not out of whole hearted love for the service of the Lord….IF THEY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO WORKS THAT WOULD FETCH THEM MILLIONS OF NAIRA CONSISTENTLY, THEY WOULD NOT BE PASTOR OR EVANGELIST.

Some people are serving in the church, because, they had to serve in order to get the Pastor’s favour and regular provisions; a lot is still consistent in the church as workers because the church has been paying their school fees or giving them some social welfare support, if they have an opportunity to secure very lucrative jobs and prestigious posts, they may have to abandon their services or reduce their commitment in the church…THEY ARE SERVING THE LORD, BUT NOT WITH ALL THEIR HEART AND SOUL.
Some are serving the Lord and following Him with their body, but the heart is not in the service and in the following.

Some sisters are seeking the face of the Lord and praying and fasting to know who to marry, but in their heart, they have already set a status standard for the man the Lord should bring along their path: They had listed the qualities: tall, slim, computer technology compliant man, purpose driven, goal getter, at least posseing the first degree and working in a top company and having an enviable carreer, etc. They fast on these and pray on these and hold several vigils and prayers sessions on these, but NOT WITH A PERFECT HEART. There is no God-picture in the criteria of the man or lady they desire to marry. When God is out of the picture, that brother or sister eventually marries wrongly, despite all his or her prayers and waiting.

THEREFORE, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO SERVE THE LORD AND FOLLOW THE LORD WITHOUT EVER BEING BLESSED AND FULFILLED IN LIFE…
LOOK FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE FOLLOWING THE LORD OR SERVING THE LORD ONLY TO PLEASE THEIR PASTORS AND PRESIDENTS OF THEIR MINISTRIES….

LOOK FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE DELIGENT WHEN THEIR PASTORS AND MINISTRY PRESIDENTS ARE AROUND ONLY TO PLEASE AND IMPRESS THEM.

That is how to follow the Lord God and still miss the way.
That is how to serve the Lord God and still end up bankcrupt and frustrated and shattered.
That is how to work in the vineyard of the Lord and still lose out at the end.

THAT IS HOW TO BE A CHILD OF GOD, SERVING AND FOLLOWING THE LORD AND STILL END UP CONDEMNED AT THE END.

With this understanding, it is easy to know that a person could pray and fast and seek the Lord’s face concerning who to marry and still end up marrying wrongly: when the person sought the Lord concern his or her marital partner, but not with a Perfect and sincere heart.

Therefore, What is it that the Lord required from us, if we would live a fulfilled life in life and ministry? What is the secret of following the Lord and reaching destination? What is the secret of Serving the Lord and getting rewarded in life and eternity?

SERVING AND FOLLOWING THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL AND WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT.
Deuteronomy 10:12 NKJV
“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

I will not serve the Lord in Vain.
I will not waste Away following Him.
Lord help me to serve and follow You with all of my Heart and Might.
Help me to Walk in all of your ways.
May the Lord bless you richly.
