“HE HUNGERED AND HAD WHAT OTHERS DID NOT HAVE”

2 Kings 2:7-8,11-14 KJV
[7] And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

[8] And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

[11] And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

[12] And Elisha saw it , and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

[13] He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

[14] And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

Twice I have attempted to go pass this chapter of the Bible in this devotional, but the Lord had sent me back to dwell on it, so I have no option but to remain where the Spirit of the Lord desires to dish out His Word for us.

As I look further into the passage, I still saw another lesson the Lord wants to pass across to us all. And this is about the sons of the Prophets, especially, those one in the School of the Prophets in Jericho. Elijah had passed through the Schools in Gilgal, and in Bethel and all the sons of the Prophets had been informed that Elijah was going away that day, but they had no hunger and thirst for his Mantle. No desire to receive the Power.

They had the Knowledge of the mind of God, but they had no hunger to pursue the Power of God.
The worst of the sets of the young Prophets were the ones in the Camp in Jericho. They knew the mind of God. They knew Elijah was going away. They even heard when he was announcing that the Lord was sending him to Jordan, so they stood afar off to watch what the Lord was going to do to him in Jordan.

They followed afar off and stood watching. They were watching as Elisha singled himself out of the rest to follow closely his Master. They were watching as the two of them approached the Jordan River. They saw how Elijah wrapped up his garment and smote the waters of the river and they witnessed how the river parted into two and they passed over to the other side.
They witnessed from very far away how Elisha came back to the Jordan River with the Mantle of his Master and with their eyes, saw Elisha also striking the waters with the Mantle of his master and parting the River into two and walking over on dry ground like his master did:

[15] And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
BEFORE NOW, THEY HAD APPROACHED HIM AND SPOKE TO HIM AS COLLEAGUES, MATE AND FRIEND, BUT NOW, THINGS WERE DIFFERENT, THEY APPROACHED HIM REVERENTLY AND BOWED TO THE GROUND BEFORE HIM AS MASTER. HE HAD GOT WHAT THEY DID NOT HAVE.

The Mantle was a big Cloak. It was enough for all the sons of the Prophet in Gilgal, in Bethel and Jericho to share into pieces. At the point where those young Prophets bowed to the ground, could have been the spot, where they would probably have shared the Mantle of Power, IF THEY TOO HAD SEEN THE MASTER GOING UP BY THE WHIRLWIND AS ELISHA HAD SEEN HIM.

If all the Sons of Prophet had crossed over across Jordan, and had followed Elijah, they would have all seen him going to Heaven the way all the Disciples saw Jesus going to Heaven after he had discussed with them too at Galilee. And the Mantle would still have dropped for them all to cross-over back to the other side. The Dry Pathway in Jordan River would have been wide enough to still accommodate all the sons of prophet the way all Israelites passed over the dry pathway across Jordan in the past.

They would have all been EMPOWERED with the Spirit of Elijah their Master. Was that not the Reason he visited them all and informed them of his going ?
THEY HAD THE KNOWLEDGE JUST IN VAIN. THEY HAD NO POWER TO EXECUTE ANY VISIONS, BECAUSE THEY HAD NO THRIST FOR EMPOWERMENT.

A lot of us had attended several conferences and heard several sermons and messages on divers scriptural messages. A lot of us had been informed of the mind of God for our lives. We had received several visions and revelations of what the Lord wanted us to do for Him. BUT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN THE LORD HAD PRESENTED BEFORE US THE OPPORTUNITIES TO BE EMPOWERED WITH HIS ANOINTING TO EXECUTE THE DIVINE VISIONS AND IDEAS, WE HAD BEEN NEGLIGENT. WE HAD CARED LESS ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES.

We had neglected to go extra-miles in hungering and thirsting for Empowerment.
WHEN OTHERS ARE FASTING YOU WERE FEASTING. WHEN OTHERS WERE PRAYING, YOU WERE PLAYING, AND YOU WANT TO POSSESS THE POWERS TO CROSS OVER THE JORDAN RIVER ON DRY GROUND.
YOU WANT TO DO EXTRA-ORDINARY THINGS IN MINISTRY.

YOU WANT TO BE AN AGENT OF HEALING THE LAND WITH YOUR DRAMA, MUSIC, TEACHINGS AND MINISTRY?
Even the Young Prophets in Jericho who were close to the point of Transference of Power, could still not hunger for it, as the woman with the issue of blood who PURPOSED in her heart and grabbed the power from behind of Jesus. NO HUNGER FOR POWER. NO THIRST FOR ANOINTING. They enjoy their Comfort Zone. No Zeal to go Extra-Mile.

SOME CHRISTIANS CAN NOT FAST AND PRAY DAILY FOR MORE THAN THREE DAYS….BUT THEY WANT TO DO MIGHTY EXPLOITS.
When some people heard of Marathon Fasting and Prayers of Three Days or Seven Days, they ran away, but they want to pull down some strongholds…THEY WANT TO TAKE THE KINGDOM BY FORCE!

The Knowledge is there in the Word of God, BUT NO HUNGER FOR THE POWER AND ANOINTING TO PROSECUTE DIVINE AGENDAS.
No Power to Tarry Longer in His Presence. But we can Tarry for Hours Browsing the Net and chatting with Followers and Friends.

Elisha had all the knowledge of what all the Young Prophets in Gilgal, Bethel and Jericho had.
But ELISHA HAD MORE THAN THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MIND OF GOD. HE HAD ALSO THE MANTLE IN HIS HAND.
HE GOT THE POWER AND ANOINTING. AND THAT WAS WHAT HE HAD ABOVE THEM.

Acts 1:8 KJV
[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
1. May I receive strength to Hunger and Thirst for the Power and Anointing to fulfill Your Purpose and Visions for my Life.”
2. May You help me to discern every Opportunity for Spiritual Empowerment”
