One morning, my son asked me a very thoughtful question, “Daddy, why did God put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden? He said Adam and Eve should not eat it and that if they ate it, they would die. If God knew that they would die eating it, why did He put the tree
there?”.
I thought, “What kind of JAMB question is this one now? Spirit of God, help me to answer this question, so this young boy can understand”.
Almost immediately, I had a flash of light in my spirit. The Spirit of God gave me the answer immediately.
And I answered, “Son, you see, God created man as a dependent creature; not an independent creature. We’re created to depend on God and follow His instructions”.
I said, “God told Adam and Eve not to eat the tree of the knowledge of good and evil as a reminder that He still holds the supreme right to give instructions to man, and that man must recognize that he’s under God’s authority”.
I concluded, “The motive of God had nothing to do with the make-up of the tree but the process of obedience and submission He was working in man… “.
My son’s face lit up like a neon sign in the sky. He was satisfied with the answer, and I bless the Lord for the inspiration of the moment.
My son’s question further reminded me that the SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD is eternally constant, and that the FREEWILL OF MAN must be constantly channeled in the direction of the SOVEREIGNTY and PREROGATIVE of God.
We live as He speaks. When God stops speaking, then man starts dying, for man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord – Matt.4:4.
Little wonder Jesus said: JOHN 5:30
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
You see, “at times” the reason God tells you to do something or not to do it is not because doing it or not doing it is a big deal to Him but to serve as a constant reminder that WE BELONG TO HIM; WE DEPEND ON HIM, WE’RE MEANT TO FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS and HE’S THE LORD OVER OUR LIVES.
It is in the place of acknowledging this reality that safety is guaranteed. The most dangerous car is not the one that can’t move but the one “that can’t stop”.
God has put “the brake system” in our lives for our safety. He determines our STEPS and our STOPS – Ps.37:23.
And when we give Him His place in our lives, we reap a life of joy and peace.
I believe this is a blessing Sirs and Mas?
Blessings Abound!!!
