2 Kings 6:1-7 NKJV
[1] And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us.
[2] Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” So he answered, “Go.”
[3] Then one said, “Please consent to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.”
[4] So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.
[5] But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.” [6] So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float.
[7] Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out his hand and took it.
Obviously, the Presence of their Master, the Prophet Elisha, had saved them of the great embarrassment of losing a borrowed iron axe-head. It was a crisis averted.
When the axe-head fell into the deep waters and sank into the river bed, the man shouted in desperation: “Alas, Master! For it was borrowed.” That was what caught my attention in this passage.
The instrument he had in his hand with which he was working “was borrowed.”
The tool of expansion, which kept him busy and active among his peers “was borrowed”
They wanted to cut down trees and make another buildings for their accommodation, but the instrument of enlargement and expansion was the iron axe. Without the iron-axe, their going to the Jordan forest to cut the trees was useless.
SO THIS INSTRUMENT WAS SO IMPORTANT FOR THEIR ENLARGEMENT.
But as the activities were going on, THE IRON AXE-HEAD fell into the Waters and sank.
Does it really bother you that THE GIFTS AND THE TALENTS YOU BRAG TO HAVE BEEN CARRYING “WAS ACTUALLY BORROWED”?
Do you really realize that THE GIFT IS NOT YOURS, though it has determined a lot of your activities and has made you really relevant in your church and among your peers?
Your gift of Singing.
Your Gift of Dancing.
Your Gift Oration and Utterance.
Your ability to stand before the Multitude and command their attention with your Speeches, IS A GIFT IMPLANTED IN YOU BY GOD, for the Enlargement of His Presence on earth.
Your Organizational ability.
Your Administrative Intelligence which the Politicians of your States and Local Government are now exploiting was actually deposited in your BIENG by God for the Expansion of His territories. It is a Gift Borrowed from God.
Do you really know that EVEN YOUR BEAUTY with which you are marching down the Red-Carpeted aisles at the Beauty Pageant was an Investment of God deposited in You NOT TO CORRUPT THE WORLD, like Jezebel and Delilah, but to Occupy Secure palaces and access the presence of Kings for the deliverance of God’s People, like Esther in the Palace of Ahasuareus, and ABRAHAM was afraid of Sarah’s beauty in Gerar (Genesis 22) and ISAAC was afraid for the beauty of Rebbekah (Genesis 27).
Do you know that the Beauty you think you have was not given to you to set the World ablaze or destroy the homes of other men or turn other men’s heart away from their wives.
Even the First Class Distinction you got in the University is a GIFT FROM GOD” just that of Daniel and his Three Friends for he purpose of establishing the knowledge and principles of Godliness in the High Places of Public and Private Services. The GIFT OF GOD was not given to you FOR PRIDE and SELF-GLORIFICATION and for useless ARROGANCE. You were not Gifted with Brilliance and Excellence to dupe the Public and live a dubious and Crafty lifestyle.

Matthew 25:16-19 NKJV
[16] Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
[17] And likewise he who had received two gained two more also.
[18] But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money.
[19] After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO USE THE BORROWED GIFTS WELL AND BE VERY PROFITABLE UNTO GOD WITH THEM.
You are not suppose to Misuse the Gifts of God.
Now as the young men were cutting trees with their axes, the iron-axe head of one of them fell into the waters and sank.
Obviously, he had been enjoying cutting the trees without observing the state of the axe-head till it got loosed and flung off into the water.
Have you been enjoying the Gifts for long till YOU NOW FOUND YOURSELF IN CRISIS?
Now let me show you the greatest Gift you have with you Presently.
THE GREATEST GIFT YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM GOD WHICH IS ACTUALLY BORROWED FROM HIM AND MUST BE RETURNED BACK TO HIM IS…….YOUR LIFE!
You can’t do what you like with it, it was Borrowed!
You can’t mess it up, it was borrowed!
You can’t destroy it, it was borrowed!
You can’t trade with it, for it was Borrowed!
You can not Exchange it for Anything, because you’ve got to return it back to the owner!
BUT HAS IT DROPPED INTO THE WATERS OF LIFE AND SANK ON THE WATER FLOOR?
HAS IT RAN INTO CRISIS?
HAS ANY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE FLUNG OFF YOUR HAND INTO THE WATERS?
“Lord, Jesus Christ, let my Axe-Head be secured in my hand.
Don’t let it fall off into the Waters of Life.
