MUTUAL TRUST: Hallmark Of Father-son Relationship!

– Pastor Bimbo Animashaun
In ministry today, much emphasis has been laid on the son’s LOYALTY to the father and the fact that the son must TRUST the father wholeheartedly.

Understandably so, for LOYALTY, predominantly speaking, is given from a person to “a higher authority”, but a quick look at Jesus’ relationship with the Father tells us that THE EQUATION MUST BE BALANCED.

Reading the Gospels, we realize that as much as Jesus was LOYAL to the Father, the Father was also “LOYAL” to Him.
As much as Jesus acknowledged the FATHERHOOD of God publicly times without number, the Father also acknowledged His SONSHIP publicly without hiding it.

Remember that in full public glare, the Father on two occasions (at River Jordan and on the Mount of transfiguration) said about Jesus, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED”, – Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5 and then He went a step further to recommend His ministry by saying, “hear ye him” – Matthew 17:5.

You remember that unarguably, the title, label and appellation with which Jesus described God THE MOST throughout His earthly ministry was “Father” – He referred to God as “My Father” without count.

For instance, the Father committed “the Kingdom” to the Son and the Bible tells us that at the end of the age, the Son will hand over the Kingdom back to the Father.

Then cometh the end, WHEN HE SHALL HAVE DELIVERED UP THE KINGDOM TO GOD, EVEN THE FATHER; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

Jesus didn’t call Himself the Father despite all the manifestations of power during His earthly ministry; He was QUICK to direct people’s attention to the Father – that was LOYALTY AT ITS FINEST!

He didn’t usurp the Father’s authority like Lucifer of old attempted to do – Isa.14:12-15
He didn’t come to start “His own thing”; He was always pursuing the will of the Father – John 4:34, John 5:30.

And then, on the other hand, the Father too was “LOYAL” to the Son even IN DEATH.
Remember that on the Cross while the Son was screaming and blood was dripping down His precious brow and in all parts of His body, the Son cried out to the Father:
LUKE 23:46

And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, FATHER, INTO THY HANDS I COMMEND MY SPIRIT: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
He committed “His eternal destiny” into the hands of the Father and the Father didn’t fail Him – the Father didn’t let Him down.
He had earlier said of the Father that He would not leave His soul in hell and that He would not permit His body to decompose and the Father kept His part of “the deal” – Ps 16:10, Acts 2:25-32.

You also remember that TIMES WITHOUT NUMBER during His earthly ministry, Jesus always said CONFIDENTLY and AUTHORITATIVELY that even though He would die but He would be raised from the dead yet the Father was so “LOYAL” to Him to keep that part of “the deal”.

The Father raised Him up FIRST from SPIRITUAL DEATH and SECOND from PHYSICAL DEATH.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Therefore it was a MUTUAL THING!!! Jesus TRUSTED the Father eternally and was LOYAL TO HIM.

By the same token, the Father TRUSTED Him and was equally “LOYAL” to Him to the point of death, burial, descension, ascension, resurrection, joint seating and will be FOREVER.
Glory to God!!! Dear Friend, you don’t have a spiritual father yet if your father doesn’t TRUST you and “LOYAL” in that sense.

And also, a father doesn’t have a son yet if the supposed son doesn’t TRUST him and LOYAL to him in the context of God’s Word.
If it is a relationship where MUTUAL SUSPICION thrives, then it is not a Father-Son relationship; it is a Master-Slave relationship.

In as much as we teach that ministry sons and daughters should be LOYAL, a father will not also let his children down.
Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Heavenly Father serve as our PERFECT and ULTIMATE EXAMPLE.
