Bishop Francis Wale Oke wrote:
“I remember when we went to Sokoto to preach the gospel of Jesus. People told me we couldn’t hold a crusade in Sokoto because it was an Islamic stronghold. Truly it was an Islamic stronghold, but we have authority through the name of Jesus to pull such strongholds down and establish the Lordship of Jesus Christ”.
“As a matter of fact, we did experience trouble in Sokoto. Our team could not distribute the flyers freely. We had to go round the city and scatter them in strategic places in the dead of the night, so that the people would pick them up and pass them round among themselves when it was daybreak. As we pasted up posters, they were torn down. A member of our team was stoned as he was pasting posters close to the Sultan’s palace. Some of the orthodox churches refused to give their support; they were afraid that their relationship with the muslim overloads would be jeopardized”.
“The Roman Catholic Church and the Pentecostal churches went all out to see that what was going to be the first large-scale, open-air crusade in Sokoto took place by all means, and successfully too. I give them credit for their boldness. And God was with us like a mighty warrior to see that the name of His Son Jesus was glorified. By the final rally of the crusade, over 15,000 people were together worshipping God and rejoicing in a single service. The crusade saw more than 5,000 people birthed into God’s Kingdom for the first time, most of whom were muslims”.
“Did we really face opposition? Like never before. Did we overcome? As usual. How could that possibly be? There is power in the name of Jesus. Alleluia”

Friend, this indeed is a story that inspires. Fathers have laboured in the Body of Christ, even at the risk of their own lives, and today the harvest is everywhere.
Papa Wale Oke also shared how he toured the 36 states of Nigeria praying and interceding for the nation.
He spent hours praying in every state capital, and shortly after that, the then military junta collapsed and there was a new era in the nation.
Now think about this dear friend; how could someone tour the 36 states of Nigeria to pray and intercede for the nation, and not praying for his own personal needs?
Many other testimonies abound but for the want of time and space.
We do not take such labours of love for granted but we recognize and honour such in our hearts and also in deeds.
We celebrate ALL THE FATHERS in the Body of Christ who have laboured by the Grace of God at work in them to preserve Christianity and to hand over the heritage of Faith to our generation.
They saw the way and paved the way for us. Surely such labours will never be in vain in Jesus’ Precious Name.
Our generation will take the work further; our hands will not be weakened and our hearts will not faint, for the Lord of Hosts, the Holy One of Israel, is with us.
The LABOUR of the FATHERS is indeed the LEVERAGE of the CHILDREN.
