HONOUR is a product of RIGHT PERCEPTION.
FAMILIARITY is a product of WRONG PERCEPTION.
In life and ministry, our PERCEPTIONS determine our RESPONSES, and our RESPONSES can make a huge difference between FAVOUR and “MISFORTUNE”.
CORRECT PERCEPTION is key! You RECEIVE people to the degree to which you PERCEIVE them.
Let your PERCEPTION of people be based on the REVELATION of the Spirit and on FACTS instead of ASSUMPTIONS.
People change and evolve in life and ministry, and I’m talking about the good side of it now.
Stop relating with people’s past. Connect with their present realities and relate with their bright future.
Retaining a negative “age-long” image of people in your mind while they have moved on into the bigger things of destiny is PRIDE and ARROGANCE.
Honour begets honour. That you fathered someone about ten years ago when he was still “bedwetting” in ministry does not mean that he’s still a “bedwetter” now.
Honour him and don’t talk him down. Don’t try to score cheap political points by talking people down – it is childish, puerile and juvenile in ministry.
People outgrow their circumstancial realities and God alone has the sovereign right to determine people’s future.
The only woman who died barren in the Bible was Michal. What was her sin? FAMILIARITY!
Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
Michal was King David’s wife but she DESPISED HER HUSBAND IN HER HEART when the latter was dancing with all his might before the God of Israel.
She felt her husband was too dignified to “display” before the daughters of Israel and the Bible tells us that SHE DESPISED THE KING IN HER HEART.
2 SAMUEL 6:16
And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and SHE DESPISED HIM IN HER HEART.
I’m very sure that the image of David as a shepherd boy coming from the bush into her father’s palace some years earlier never left her mind.
Little did she know that David had transited that season and now the oil of God was upon his head while being his wife would not give her the permission to ABUSE the anointed of the Lord.
That past image of David as “a shepherd boy in the bush” never left her mind, and that PERCEPTION affected her RESPONSE thus making her to meet her waterloo.
It’s a big lesson for all of us. Pride is the reason one will refuse to acknowledge the current workings and realities of God in other people’s lives as against what one used to know about them in the past.
The Word tells us to HONOUR ALL MEN:
1 PETER 2:17
HONOUR ALL MEN. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Feeling that someone must be your “junior” in ministry and thereby talking to him disrespectfully is an ethical blunder.
On this note, I’m on the same page with the great legend and icon of Faith, a wisdom tank in the Body of Christ, Dr. Mike Murdock who taught us to go where we are CELEBRATED rather than TOLERATED.
For one thing, the Word says TO HONOUR ALL MEN – fathers, mentors, friends, sons, daughters and EVERYONE!
This is a big lesson for any minister who is really going far with God, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble – Jam. 4:6.
I hope this made little sense Sirs and Mas?
