“TOUCHING THE LORD’S ANOINTED”

Psalm 105:14-15 NKJV
[14] He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes,
[15] Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”
1 Samuel 26:8-9 NKJV

[8] Then Abishai said to David, “God has delivered your enemy into your hand this day. Now therefore, please, let me strike him at once with the spear, right to the earth; and I will not have to strike him a second time!”

[9] But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the LORD’s anointed, and be guiltless?”
The Anointed One is the person the Lord has called to be His servant. The moment a person becomes the Lord’s servant, he becomes the Anointed of the Lord and from that moment, becomes dangerous to Touch or Attack. Because the Lord God called the whole nation of Israel to follow Him, they become the Lord’s Anointed and thus, became UNTOUCHABLE.

So, in Psalm 105:14-15, the Bible says God permitted NOBODY to do them any evil. He rebuked kings and nations for their sakes. He destroyed the whole economy of Egypt, because they were reluctant to release the people of Israel as demanded by God.
But touching the Lord’s Anointed is not limited to when the Anointed is physically attacked. Some times ago, my wife and I travelled for an outreach on invitations.

After more than six days of great outreaches and ministrations in a particular church, we were so excited at what the Lord did and we all gathered together with the hosts at the end of the programs in the house of our hosts, and all of us together were sharing a lot of testimonies and various experiences on ministration fields. The atmosphere was joyful as we all laughed and talked with joy.

We and our hosts were sharing experiences with some unnamed ministers of God who were doing this and doing that, and what they have encountered and what we have experienced and we were all learning from all these experiences. However, the spiritual atmosphere around us changed immediately I mistakenly mentioned a minister of God who said some wrong things to us and did some things to us. The moment I mentioned his name faintly in my discussion to the rest of us in that gathering, I felt a heaviness descending immediately in our midst and shortly after, the meeting ended and we were carried back to our hotel.

Right from that moment my spirit lost the peace and the joy it had got during the entire program. I felt immediately that some joy and peace had left me. When we got back to where we were lodged, I could take it no longer, I told my wife what I felt the moment I mentioned the minister’s name when we were joyfully sharing our various experiences. She confirmed it that the moment we were joking about the minister of God, her peace departed and her heart became troubled since. It was as if all the ministerial success we had through out the outreaches had been wiped out by that singular act of despising the anointed man of God.

All through the night, I was praying for forgiveness and mercy, but I never got my joy and peace restored. My sleep left me. My heart was heavy, I became worried. And I had never experienced it before. It was then I knew another meaning of TOUCHING THE LORD’S ANOINTED.
So, After much prayers and asking for forgiveness, I had to speak out in the middle of the night, in my prayer:
“OK, Lord, I am very sorry. I have said I am very sorry, Lord, what would You want me to do now, Lord?”

The Lord said, “How come you are not afraid to touch my Anointed? ”
Then, I felt the Lord saying to me clearly, I should go back to our host minister couple who were with us when I spoke, and retrieve all I said, and let them know that what I said about the minister of God was wrong, that sharing our experience is good, but I should not have mentioned his name in my sharing, because I did not know what my have transpired between him and God since my experience with him.

Not until I got the information across to our Hosts, and let them know, that it was a mistake I mentioned the minister’s name in my sharing with them, not until then did I got my joy and peace back from the Lord. I was scared since then.
THAT WAS WHEN I UNDERSTOOD ANOTHER MEANING OF TOUCHING THE LORD’S ANOINTED.
Soul wanted to kill David, he still referred to King Saul as the Lord’s Anointed. He still respected him, though he was running away from him.

THEN, I LEARNT ANOTHER LESSON:
IT IS THE LORD THAT DETERMINES THE JUDGEMENT OF HIS SERVANT, NOT YOU.
When you speak evil of a Servant of God, you TOUCH THE LORD’S ANOINTED.
When you gang up with others to spite him, YOU HAVE TOUCH HIM.

I learnt my lesson, that whatever a minister of God has done against you, you must be careful how you mention his name scornfully in your sharing and discussions with other people. You must be careful how you cast aspersions at him in your discussions with others.

You must be careful how you gang up agains your pastor, or how you deliberately hinder his visions and missions.
If a minister of God has hurt you and you have been disappointed with what he has done to you,…or you feel walking with him will endanger your spiritual life, or you do not understand his spiritual philosophies, then, walk away far from him…
but DO NOT GANG UP WITH OTHERS TO DESTROY HIS PERSONALITY…LET THE LORD JUDGE HIM.

HE IS STILL THE LORD’S ANOINTED.
It is a terrible game TOUCHING THE LORD’S ANOINTED…
