“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” (Psalm 92: 12)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist gave a description for the man that shall grow like the cedar in Lebanon. That man was described as “The righteous”. So, this wasn’t just a blessing for all; it was a blessing given to the righteous. The one who would grow like the cedar in Lebanon was first called “the righteous”. The one who would make progress and last long in greatness like the cedar in Lebanon was first described as righteous.
Friend, more than ever before, dare to live right. Dare to walk in right standing with God. Dare to live according to the dictates of the Spirit of God. Dare to live above the lusts of the flesh. Dare to live like one who is truly a temple of the Spirit of God. Live like one who truly belongs to God. Live like one who is hosting God. Live like one who has embraced the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Live and walk in line with God’s word.
The Psalmist was careful to mention the identity of the one who would grow like the cedar in Lebanon. Make a commitment to reject every identity that is at variance with God’s word concerning your life. Don’t become that man that heaven will refuse to bless on account of wrong doing. Don’t accept the identity of sin. Even if you fall into error, dust yourself up and move on; don’t let the enemy make you accept a negative identity.
Proverbs 16: 12 captures it succinctly. It says, “It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness”. Allow the identity of Christ to prevail over every negative identity you have ever had. Walk in the spirit and the flesh will not prevail over you. Walk in the word and it will grow mightily in you until it prevails over the nature of sin. Discard every lifestyle and association that exposes you to sinful living.
The fact that things are still in order is not an excuse to remain in error. Close the chapter of wrong living, and let the Spirit of God guide you into right living.
Proverbs 14: 34 says: “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Declare With Me: I choose to live right; I am established in righteousness, in Jesus’ name
