(Key To Sustaining Spiritual Impartations)
– Pastor Bimbo Animashaun
In ministry, you must learn to DIG YOUR OWN WELL!
Yes, you will receive impartations but you must activate those impartations by DIGGING YOUR OWN WELL.
Don’t WASTE impartations!!!
Impartation is key to success in ministry, but when mismanaged, it won’t deliver results.
You don’t succeed in ministry because great men of God lay hands on you.
Your HEART POSTURE in the course of the laying on of hands matters.
If your heart is not CONNECTED, then nothing of value and of tangible substance will come out of it.
You treasure or make light of spiritual impartations by the posture of your heart.
Somebody might say, “Well, all I need to succeed in ministry is for Pastor Adeboye or Bishop Oyedepo or Bishop Wale Oke to lay hands on me”.
But that’ll be self-delusion if there’s no HEART CONNECTION.
Needless to say, many ministers have received IMPARTATIONS in the past but they couldn’t sustain them.
Some received impartations and they went to “sleep” – they didn’t do anything about it – there was no “follow-up”.
The truth of the matter is that you sustain IMPARTATION by CULTIVATION.
Whatever you receive by IMPARTATION is sustained by CULTIVATION.
Therefore you will need to take responsibility for the impartations of graces upon your life.
The Apostle Paul laid his hands on Timothy and there was “A TRANSFER OF ANOINTING”, but then, he instructed him to CULTIVATE it:
2 TIMOTHY 1:6
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance THAT THOU STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
Paul would not stir up the gift for him. A man of God can do the IMPARTATION for you but he won’t do the STIRRING for you.
In ministry, you must realize that there are certain things you get from others and there are certain things you get by yourself – the Scripture is very clear on this.
Let me give an example from that same Book of Timothy.
1 TIMOTHY 4:14
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Here, we see Timothy receive impartation by the laying on of hands of the presbytery or community of elders.
That was what he got externally; other people were used to communicate these spiritual virtues to him.
But then, the next verse tells us what Timothy would do by himself.
1 TIMOTHY 4:15
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
Strong!!! Isn’t it? The elders would not meditate for Timothy and they would not do the GIVING OF ONSELF WHOLLY for him; he would have to do that by himself.
In other words, Timothy must DIG HIS OWN WELL.
Notice the last statement, “that thy profiting may appear to all”. Instructive!!!
Therefore, drawing from these two verses, we know that PROFITING IN MINISTRY IS A PRODUCT OF THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN IMPARTATION AND CULTIVATION.
By IMPARTATION, you receive the fire , but then; you must continually put wood inside the fire for it to be sustained.
This is the Biblical position:
LEVITICUS 6:12-13
12 And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings.
13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.
Dear minister, IMPARTATION is not enough; you need CULTIVATION to SUSTAIN the IMPARTATION.
And one way to do this is to find out the “spiritual activities” that sustain the channel from where you receive it.
For instance, Dad Hagin laid his two hands on me on Monday, 14th January, 2008 in a vision encounter and declared over me repeatedly, having prayed in tongues for some minutes, “SPIRITUAL STRENGTH, SPIRITUAL STAMINA. SPIRITUAL STRENGTH, SPIRITUAL STAMINA”, and that impartation was a turning point in my ministry.
By God’s Grace, that unction is still very fresh till date. What did I do? I found out the “spiritual routines” of Dad Hagin like praying constantly in the Spirit and meditating on God’s Word and I started doing same.
Let none of us be deceived. God is not mocked; whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap – Gal.6:7.
Find out what the people that conduct impartations on you do that have sustained the oil on them and do the same.
On a general level, you can sustain impartation by practising this apostolic principle:
ACTS 6:4
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
There’s no shortcut to this. If someone who lives “A FASTED LIFE” lays hands on you for impartation, you can’t be eating like elephant and expect to continually flow in that same grace.
Truth is that OUR FUTURE IS DETERMINED BY OUR DAILY ROUTINES.
There are ministers out there who have had great IMPARTATIONS in the past, but nothing around them looks like it.
The reason could be A LACUNA IN CULTIVATION.
We need to brace up and not cast away great pearls on the dunghill.
God is counting on us. If you ever trust God to become a generational reference point, then this is a timely word to be internalized.
The fathers of Faith know this principle and they have gained mastery of it – we can’t do less!
As a young minister, your wisdom level will also be measured by the degree to which you’re able to manage the impartations of graces upon your life.
And this wisdom is demonstrated by the extent to which you’re willing, eager and ready to DIG YOUR OWN WELL.
May the Lord help us all!
Amen!!
I trust this is a blessing Sirs and Mas?
Much Love!!!
