“When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.” (Matthew 14: 13)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
When Jesus left the city after the news of the death of John the Baptist, multitudes followed Him and eventually got to the same location. Jesus went by ship and got to the location; but the multitudes went on foot, and got to the same location. Jesus took a faster mode of movement, the others took a slower mode of transport, but everyone got to the same location. They may have taken different routes, but they all got to the same place.
Friend, there may be people ahead of you, there may be people who started before you, there may be people who are currently moving faster than you, there may be people who seem to have started achieving their results earlier than you, there may be people who have pathways and supporters that make their attainments easier and faster, but God says, your routes may be different, but you will arrive at the same destination.
Hear me as I hear the Lord: no matter who has gone ahead of you, you will still hit your targets. No matter who started before you, you will still arrive at your congratulations. No matter who was chosen before you, you will still be chosen. No matter who was selected before you, you will still be selected for high places. No matter who testified before you, you will still testify. No matter who got there before you, you too will get there.
Jesus had a ship to move with, the multitude did not have a ship, but with their feet, they got to the same destination. They may not have had the best of options, but with what they had, they got to the same location. You may not have the best options, you may not have what everyone around you has, but with what you have, you will get the results you are looking for. With what you have, you will hit the targets that others have already hit.
Don’t look down on your ‘feet’ simply because you don’t have a ‘ship’ like others. If God be for you, you too will get there.
Romans 9: 16 says: “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.”
