AWAY FROM DELILAH

“And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.” (Judges 16: 6)

In our Focal Scripture, Delilah pressed Samson for information on how he can be bound, and where his great strength lay. Delilah was making enquiries about how Samson can be brought down. Samson was engaged in conversations with someone who clearly told him that the goal was to bind and afflict him. Samson should have seen the signals, and how they were not in his interest. Samson was discussing his own downfall.

Friend, glean some wisdom from Samson: don’t be caught in conversations that are about your downfall. Don’t get involved with ideas that are fashioned to reduce and extinguish your destiny. Don’t make the mistake of surrounding yourself with relationships that are plotting your downfall. Don’t be connected to people who are evidently and manifestly occupied with how to make you ordinary. Don’t be a helper in your own destruction.

Delilah gave Samson clear signals that the whole idea of asking about the source of his strength, was for him to be bound and afflicted, but Samson seemed completely oblivious. Delilah made it obvious that she was asking in order to help Samson’s downfall, but Samson didn’t give a damn. Don’t remain in any relationship or activity the moment you realize that it was designed to bring you down. Stop loving your downfall.

If God shows you mercy and you realize that you are stuck with a ‘Delilah’ that is making arrangements for your downfall, run for your dear life. Don’t extend your time in error, in the hope that nothing will go wrong. Don’t extend your alliance with negativity. Don’t give yourself extra time in sin. Don’t be caught in the web of unrighteousness. Don’t be counted amongst them that want to try an adventure with the enemy.

Samson remained with Delilah, and his downfall eventually happened. May it not be said that you aided your own downfall by remaining in error with a ‘Delilah’. May your relationships not become a snare to your destiny.

2 Corinthians 6: 17 says:
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”

Declare With Me: I will not be a messenger in my own downfall, in Jesus’ name!
