Note what Paul records from God in:
2 Timothy 4:1-4 (NKJV) I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
So, because of the growing evil that darkens the world leading up to the final rebellion, we are called to be alert, vigilant, and guarded against the schemes of Satan. Perhaps the best way to do that is to learn what God wants every member in Jesus Christ’s church to be taught, contained right in the book we are called to study.
Doctrines of Hope & Victory
In obedience to God’s desire that we “read”, and “hear”, and “keep” (Rev. 1:3) these doctrines in Revelation, open with me again to Revelation 9.
The doctrines of hope, truth, grace, spiritual power, and Christ’s victory over sin, death, spiritual wickedness and Hell are perhaps clearest in this chapter. We saw last time that the theme of this chapter is in portrait of the amazing contrast between the two stark choices every human will always face:
Christ Who Offers Endless Life & The Devil, his Demons, and the
Destroyer from the Abyss, Who Offer Endless Death
God has always offered humans a way out of their sin. Here, again He does the same, and here again, humans refuse to repent.
